Overview
The DRS4000 ENG Central Receive diversity system offers the most powerful and advanced combination of user benefits by including MaxRC (maximal ratio combining), SD/HD decoding, spectrum monitoring, and full remote control in a single package, with a packet switching option for cellular diversity applications.
MaxRC is the newest and most sophisticated technology available for diversity combining, and will constantly optimize the quality and range of the received signal. The packet switching feature enables the addition of feature rich enhancements, including cellular diversity hubs and support for existing central receivers through an ASI interface.
For coverage of sporting events, parades, or daily news, the DRS4000 MaxRC and packet switching capability can process inputs from up to four other receive sites to create a wide area cellular system. This ASI system level feature provides a versatile architecture for packet sharing between MRC's MRX4000 and MRX4000 Plus receiver/demodulators.
Although optimized for fi xed applications, the DRS4000 digital diversity microwave receiver may also be used in portable applications to cover sports, news, and outside broadcasts from ground, air, or moving vehicles.
System parameters can be easily and quickly set from the front panel with a user friendly keypad and menu screen, for manual or pre-defi ned settings. The receiver may also be operated remotely using the DRS4000's network manager software. In addition, a display screen provides a live view of the video signal along with an overlay of the video spectrum.
The integrated COFDM demodulator and SD/HD MPEG decoder support standard DVB-T 2K operation as well as LMS-T, the highly advanced Link Research modulation scheme. Link's LMS-T employs COFDM technology in a proprietary format that utilizes powerful LDPC error correction codes to achieve a 30% increase in throughput with a corresponding increase in robustness over DVB-T. All MRC and Link SD/HD ENG transmitters and wireless camera systems also support LMS-T.
