DVC5000 SD/HD Decoder

Overview

MRC leads the broadcast industry in D-ENG and MPEG-2 technology to become the established leader in the implementation of IP based workflow enhancement tools for Electronic News Gathering. As the move to HD-ENG and HD remote production advances, so does the need for new tools to improve workflow.

With the introduction of the DVC5000 SD/HD decoder, MRC establishes a new standard in high quality MPEG-2 decoding consistent with the needs of a studio environment, but with additional features targeted at the enhancement of news operations such as the IP de-encapsulation option that can separate MPE embedded video fi les from an incoming ASI stream.

The DVC5000 is a next generation MPEG-2 SD/HD decoder that provides high performance in both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 profi les, with an available upgrade path to MPEG-4. The availability of an IP de-encapsulation option sets the DVC5000 apart from the rest of the decoder fi eld, and the upgrade path to MPEG-4/ H.264 makes it totally unique.

Unlike ordinary decoders, MRC's highly sophisticated FPGA approach offers the maximum return on your investment by supporting the addition of new features and upgrades as they become available. No other solution can offer MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 in the same platform with an optional upgrade path.

The IP de-encapsulation option compliments the IP fi le transfer and remote control capabilities of MRC's MTX5000 ENG Van Transmitter. At the ENG/OB Van, the MTX5000 can encapsulate and transmit IP in an ASI stream that may be carrying live video at the same time. At the central receiver, the ASI transmission from the van is passed on to studio through a microwave downlink, where a DVC5000 is located. When the ASI output of the downlink is passed through the DVC5000, it will separate the IP packets from the ASI stream and present them through an RJ45, 10/100 BaseT, interface to the studio network.
